We create our feelings depending on the interpretation. If we think it’s a bomb we feel fear, whereas if we think it’s a celebration we feel joy. Our interpretations arise from our mindsets, our conditioned beliefs that started in childhood.
Step 10: Take turns talking while using sentence stems that take responsibility.
Each partner should use three short sentences starting with these sentence stems:
1. “What I am making myself think is….”
2. “What I am making myself feel about this is….” (Feelings are single words like fear, pain, anger, guilt, shame, love, joy, passion, depressed, and excited. Our thoughts require several words. You may have more than one feeling about your thought.)
3. “What I would appreciate you doing about this is….”
For example I might say, “What I am making myself think is we don’t have enough money to pay all our bills. What I am making myself feel about it is fear, pain, guilt, shame, and anger. What I would appreciate you doing is having a conversation with me so we can prioritize and plan how to pay these bills and prepare for future expenses.”
Once you have spoken your three sentences, your partner responds using the same process. When your partner is talking, keep in mind that your partner is responsible for creating what they are thinking and saying, just as you are for what you are thinking and saying. It is to be expected that your partner’s perception about your finances and bills will be different from yours, which is why it is so important to have your conversation. Your partner’s mindset is as valid for them as your mindset is for you. Each of your pictures of your finances needs to be heard and respected to make plans that you can work on as a team.
Your goal in talking is to tell your partner what you think and feel, not to try to change your partner. If your words bring about a change in their thinking, that is determined by your partner. Likewise, you listen to hear your partner's thoughts and feelings. You do not listen to defend or justify yourself.
Step 11: Identify and write down practical goals.
After talking back and forth for 15 minutes, each write down three changes you will start immediately to help with your finances and continue until you meet again in three months. These goals are for you. Your partner will come up with their goals. You may share a common goal that you both work on. Sweep your side of the street and let your partner sweep theirs. Quarterly meetings are needed to stay current with your finances. When you have a pressing financial problem you will need to meet more frequently.
Step 12: Practice gratitude for each step your partner takes in listening and sharing.
We do more of what we are appreciated for. When not appreciated, we usually do less of what we were doing. When you appreciate your partner it helps you; you will raise your energy and feel better. If you criticize your partner you lower your energy and make yourself feel worse.

People can eat too much, they can drink too much water or they can exercise too much. The reason that they cannot sleep too much is because they cannot control when they sleep. The body only sleeps when it needs to. You can try to sleep for 20 hours, but you cannot, unless your body needs to sleep that long. Some people need to sleep 24 hours a day. This is called a coma. A guy was in a car accident and went into a coma for 3 months. That was many years ago, but he functions almost normally now. Some people are depressed and will sleep 12 hours per day.
Many people will wake up after sleeping and feel fine. Then they will go back to sleep and later wake up and be feeling awful. Then they think that they slept too much or too long. This is similar to when you stop smoking. Even though you feel really awful, it is good for you. Hypoglycemia (why I am I changing the subject) is actually rare. Many people will go all day without food and feel dizzy, sick, light headed and they imagine that their blood sugar has dropped too low. But this is not what is happening. When your body goes too long without food, it goes into a fasting mode. Some will say that it goes into a starvation mode but this does not happen until after the body has been in the fasting mode for about a month.
When in the fasting mode, your body is getting rid of toxins at a rapid rate similar to when you stop smoking or stop taking heroin. Some who stop taking heroin at one time, can die. It is common for someone to have those above symptoms when in the fasting mode. This happens when you go all day without eating any food and also when you sleep more than usual. Sleeping speeds up this fasting mode. When you stop your fast, it is called breaking your fast. You fast everyday and break it when you eat break-fast (pronounced brek-fist).
I told this to a woman who said that she cannot fast because she has hypoglycemia. I told her that when the body goes into a fasting mode, the tongue gets coated. She went all day without food and got those symptoms that she thought was hypoglycemia. She looked in the mirror and saw that her tongue was coated so she knew that what I said was right. So she wrote me to let me know that I really know what I am talking about. The way to cure your withdrawal symptoms from smoking is to continue without smoking.
The way to cure this problem with sleep or going all day without food, is with fasting. I used to have that problem with feeling bad after going all day without food. It is not a waste of time. Very important things happen when you are asleep. It is hard to understand this when you do not get the big picture.
The small picture is that you have better things to do. The big picture is that someday you will die and not be able to do anything in the physical world. When you are in deep sleep, you visit that non-physical world that you are in all the time, but you are not aware of it. It is very similar to the place you go when you die. A sleeping person looks like they are dead, but the difference is that they will wake up. Since sleep cannot be controlled, most Americans have problems sleeping. They have to do things to let go of their stress so sleep can just happen. It is something that you cannot control, which is why you cannot do it too much.

The Forgotten City - Exploring The Mayan Ruins Of Coba

Some of the most popular activities in Cancun are visits to the sites of ancient Mayan ruins. While many visitors are aware of the world-famous Chichen Itza and plenty of tours visit nearby Tulum, archeologists and those in the know often recommend a forgotten Mayan city. Deep in the Mexican jungle rests the city of Coba, an expansive complex of stone structures and winding roads. Due to its remote location, Coba wasn’t explored by archeologists until the 1920s and remains mostly unexcavated. However, realizing the cultural value of the site, the local government constructed a modern road to the site in the 1970s and tours have grown in popularity ever since.
Though known for its stone pyramids, the area of Coba was populated and used for agricultural purposes as far back as 600 BC. By the 1st century AD, Coba began to show signs of its eventual prominence in the Mayan Kingdom, sustaining a sizable population in a more concentrated area. Much like the other great Mayan cities of Mexico, the majority of development took place between the 6th and 10th centuries – including the construction of the temples and pyramids that can be seen today. It is believed that Coba’s population numbered at least 50,000 during this time – certainly no small number for an ancient city. Following the initial decline of the Mayan civilization, new temples were constructed in Coba as late as the 14th century, with many inhabitants remaining as late as the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores.
One of the first things you will notice when you arrive in Coba is the series of ancient stone roads known as sacbeob. In addition to supporting the belief that Coba was a large and influential city during its peak, these roads are the finest example of the Mayan mode of transportation anywhere in Mexico. While most of the stones have since been misplaced, the well-defined paths are unmistakable. Some of these roads lead to the Caribbean coast – approximately 25 miles to the east – while the longest pathway is connected to the smaller Mayan site of Yaxuna over 60 miles to the west. Within the city itself, these same roads connect the temples and other structures within an ancient model of the urban grid system.
The first structure you will notice along the sacbeob is the pyramid known as La Iglesia. Standing over 65 feet, this steep stone temple is the second-tallest structure in Coba. About a mile down the main road, you will encounter one of the Mayan kingdom’s greatest temples. Towering above the jungle at 136 feet, Nohoch Mul is certainly a sight to behold. Once you reach the top of the stone steps, however, you will be granted an even more impressive view of the surrounding jungle and Coba’s nearby lagoons. Another favorite site along Coba’s winding paths is the Conjunto Las Picturas (Temple of the Paintings), a multilevel pyramid once crowned with colorful murals – remnants of which can still be detected.
If you also visit Chichen Itza or Tulum while in Cancun, Coba will stand out for reasons other than its impressive architecture. As Coba has only been accessible by modern roads for 30 years, the city hasn’t received the attention paid to other Mayan sites. Integrated Safety Instrumented Systems and Distributed Control Systems - Are They a Good Idea?

For those of you who have been entrusted with the task of selecting a safety instrumented system for use in your plant, often run into a perplexing question. Should I go for an integrated Safety Instrumented System, which will be totally different from my Distributed Control system (or DCS for short)? Or should I select one of the newer “integrated systems”, that comprise of both the Distributed Control System and a Safety Instrumented System in one package?
A Safety Instrumented System (or SIS) is a special kind of control system that is used for the safety critical parts of process plants, turbo machinery, boilers and other machinery or equipment that has to be controlled with a very high degree of reliability in order to run it safely, as well as bring it to a safe state if something goes wrong. Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD for short), can be considered a subset of the SIS category of control systems.
On the other hand DCS (Distributed Control Systems) are those control systems that are used for normal control and monitoring operations of process plants, oil refineries, oil & gas production platforms, power plants and so on. The DCS is the main system that measures, monitors and controls various process parameters like flow, temperature, pressure and so on. In standards related literature, this system is also referred to as the BPCS (short for Basic Process Control System).
In the view of the standards bodies (like IEC and ISA), these two systems have to be completely separate, as these safety instrumented systems have to be dedicated to controlling only the safety critical parts of the plant .The ordinary DCS cannot be said to be robust, fail-safe and sure to operate the safety critical instruments at all times. This distinction between the DCS and SIS, led to separate markets for both types of systems with separate suppliers for both, initially. Thus companies like Triconex, HIMA, Pilz and ICS Triplex were the traditional vendors of these Safety Instrumented Systems, whereas the BPCS or DCS market belonged to the companies like Emerson, ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa and Invensys.
This obviously, meant that now, if a plant had instruments and controls that were designated as safety critical, it necessarily required a separate SIS; the DCS would not do at all because of what the standards state. Thus now, one control room had two control systems, completely different as chalk and cheese. The SIS had separate power supply (or a UPS), separate panels, monitoring stations, separate programming software and of course totally separate hardware from the DCS. The same Instrument engineer who maintained the instruments and controls of this process plant, now had to be adept at both systems simultaneously. Plant modifications and changes were a pain as any change had to be implemented in both systems, with a lot of testing to ensure that the original interlocks and loops worked as designed to.
Making the two systems communicate with each other, also proved not so simple, since even after DCS vendors had come out with open systems, the Safety Instrumented System vendors were reluctant to migrate to such systems, due to the extensive proof testing required to ensure that the “open” systems were bug free.
Hence, most instrument engineers in these situations started wishing for a new deal, whereby both the SIS and the DCS could talk to each other seamlessly (even while remaining separate to conform to the standards) . Also, what if they could share a common engineering /programming platform as well? That would be the icing on the cake!
The DCS vendors sensed this mood of the users and many of them came out with “integrated” DCS/SIS systems, where the DCS and SIS controllers are different, but part of the same overall system. Some recent examples are Emerson’s Delta V with SIS and Siemens Safety Integrated system. These reportedly have become popular, due to the fact that most of these integrated systems have got third party (most commonly TUV) certificates for the SIS part, so users can have a worry free installation of these for safety critical applications. However, I have not yet seen any debate in the technical media, regarding this issue. Are these systems doing great, or are users now longing for the earlier separate DCS/SIS systems? I think we need some more time and more data, to arrive at any definitive conclusion. The advantages of an integrated DCS/SIS are obvious, as stated above. The disadvantages are somewhat less obvious. One disadvantage is that if the SIS portion is really easy to program, then there is a chance that unauthorized users (say a savvy DCS operator) might end up changing protected settings like interlock bypasses and setpoints, which is really dangerous. Plus the thought of having an SIS with a standard “open” OS like Windows, is rather uncomfortable, as the last thing one wants is a system freeze during an emergency.
Only time will tell, if the integrated SIS/DCS systems were a better choice than the stand-alone SIS, as then we would have enough data to have a balanced view.

Investment freaks tend to have a good solid foundation in real estate and are successful people who take action quickly. Their outlook is that they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Which of these four levels represents you as an investor? The answer to that may depend on your risk tolerance. If you are risk averse, the first or second levels are most likely. If you have a more devil-may-care personality, you may start out on the third level. As with any kind of investing, however, caution pays off in real estate, especially for beginners who have yet to learn the rules of the game. However, some experienced investors are held back by their extreme caution, and always will be. These are the real type-one investors. Lifelong type-two investors often lack the drive that motivates others to become type-three risk-takers as they gain confidence.
How do you end up as a type-four, full-time investor? Well, one success leads to another. You learn to make quick decisions. You know that you must change your life to change your income. Over time, you see the things you need to do to change your life, and you do them. You control your fears. With experience, you become educated in real estate. You begin to trust yourself.

Type 4 investors have all gained the experience to not only recognize an opportunity, but to act on it quickly and effectively.
